为了我爸妈出行方便，为了扩展他们的活动范围，我们买了一辆三轮车和一辆自行车。如今他们再也不用到哪儿都腿儿着了。他们不仅每天骑车接送洋洋（我家离幼儿园骑车只三分钟路程），而且再也不用等我们开车带他们去买东西了，不仅方便了他们自己，也方便了我们。

刚把三轮车买回家时，老公说他这辈子在美国就没见过三轮车，竟然被我给买回家了。

我们在筐子里固定了一个booster chair，就有安全带啦！我还给洋洋买了个头盔，可惜他死活不喜欢脑袋上戴东西。据我爸讲，有一次他们在幼儿园门口，被另外一个小朋友看到洋洋坐三轮车，哭着喊着满地打滚也非要坐三轮车。呵呵，这三轮车还成了稀罕物了呢。哦，对了，我们也买了一个自行车trailer，不过我们家住公寓地方小，再加上拆来卸去的麻烦，所以一直都用三轮车做载人工具。

不过尼，买了车才发现还有一个不可抗力限制了他们的更大活动能力，就是这里的路很多都有坡，下坡还好，要是遇到长长的上坡就难了。每天我妈骑三轮车从幼儿园到家三分钟路程都骑得浑身冒汗。还是北京更适合骑车。用我妈的话说，从通州骑到丰台都不觉得累。我妈问美国有没有像北京那样一马平川的地界儿。我问了老公，他指着美国地图告诉我们：当然有了！不过都在中部四个农业州。

不管怎样，有车就比没有强！

We have bought a bike (and a bike trailer) and an adult tricycle for my parents. Now they can not only drop off and pick up George to and from school, but also go to grocery store by themselves! So awesome! We have installed a booster chair inside the basket of the tricycle so George can put on "safety belt" and ride safely. I also bought a helmet for him but he doesn't allow anything put on his head!

There was one time, another kid at day care saw George riding on the tricycle and that kid cried really hard wanting to ride on it too!

However, there is still one element that has limited my parents activity capacity--the roads in Austin have too many up and downs. Going downhill is fine, but it is really hard to ride uphill. Dave can prove that--he rode the bike from Walmart back home and there was a loooong uphill road and he admitted it was hard to ride on it.

My mom asked whether there are places as flat as Beijing in the US where you can easily ride a bike for 20 or 30 km without up and downs. Dave told us yes, but they are all in the middle part of the country.
